新款Mini Cooper S所采用的动力来源与刚发表的Peugeot 207 RC为相同的"EP6DTS 1.6"，这具发动机乃是由BMW和PSA集团所共同生产，可以拥有175hp/5500rpm与24.5kgm/1600～5000rpm的输出表现，与上一代机械增压引擎相较，马力输出虽同为175匹，但24.5kgm的峰值扭力在1600rpm低转速即可爆发，而近期广为涡轮车采用的超压功能甚至可将扭力瞬间增至26.5kgm，起步与再加速能量更为充裕，内饰包括恒温空调、单片式CD音响、桶型跑车椅等。
